A VERY SPECIAL WORKSHOP
Nestled a few steps away from Place Vendôme, the bespoke workshop at 1 Rue Volney has been created by Pierre Corthay, in 1990. Initially part of the store, it gained its independence and found its definitive place linked to the Company's successes, which made it possible to enlarge its perimeter. Here, Pierre feels «at home, sheltered from the outside world», and even describes it as an «intimate envelope», perhaps like a shoe; a case of the foot, which comes alive inside...
OUR MAJOR CHALLENGE
Founder of the Company and distinguished bootmaker, Pierre Corthay is, to date, the only bootmaker to have received the Maître d'Art title, which he was awarded in 2008. He is an artisan of shoemaking, but above all of transmission, which he achieves through «demonstration», and which is characterized by his «daily presence» and conveyed both «through words and actions». The succession and future of the Corthay bespoke shoe are safe, since a trio of young enthusiasts, under the aegis of their maestro, have been cutting out, hammering, stretching and stitching the finest leather to the lasts of customers. The latter have become part of the inner circle of the Company; fans of the marriage between irreproachable technical knowledge, a look that is constantly being reinvented and unparalleled comfort.
BEHIND THE SCENES
BESPOKE (Grande-Mesure), which gives free rein to your imagination, to your wildest desires. From the last that will be exclusive to you, to the skins used, to the design of the upper, everything tends to make your shoe a unique and precious piece. Precious especially by the quality and the precision with which it will be crafted. Each Bespoke shoe reflects the quintessence of an art, the expertise of our craftsmen, and the deep pride of exercising a rare and noble profession.
The PETITE MESURE, recently launched in 2021, is based on the Corthay ready-to-wear last that is adapted to each client and on a large number of emblematic models whose patterns have already been developed. This is the big difference with the Bespoke (Grande-Mesure), apart from these details, the making of the shoe is strictly the same as in Bespoke and is made in the emblematic 1, rue Volney Atelier.
